CSM8: June Interview

So as I stated last time round, I wanted to take the opportunity to interview two CSM8 members each month, asking them what is going on and how the process is running. This time round we have the awesome Ali Aras and FC extraordinaire, the man who invented the CSM, Progodlegend. We talk about a heap of stuff including the upcoming summer summit and the ongoing community discussion on ‘pornfleets’.

Fly safe,

Xander

About the author

Xander Phoena

The good looking, funny, intelligent member of the team, Xander set up Crossing Zebras with Jeg in April 2012 mainly because he was talking too much about Eve on his other podcast. Playing the game for almost five years, Xander still has absolutely zero clue about how to actually play Eve but somehow still manages to talk a good game.

  • Two step

On porn links: People do it because it is tolerated/encouraged. If people stopped tolerating it, people would stop posting them.

There are plenty of mature, reasonable corps out there where it isn’t even an issue. 3 years ago AHARM had a guy who posted that sort of crap, and we ended up kicking him from corp. If I want porn, I will do what everyone else does and search google for it.

What about if you want to be involved in those huge nullsec fleet fights? Is there an option for that person? Are they automatically removed from that type of gameplay if they aren’t willing to tolerate porn in fleets? I know what you are saying – there are other things players can do in Eve but do large scale 0.0 PvP and porn links go hand in hand?

All you need to do to post porn, and be within the EULA, is use a channel not created by CCP. Make a player created CFC PORN channel, invite all of CFC to it that want to be there. Problem solved

          that is not true.
once we had a gu posting a pic even worse then porn, wont even describe it.
someone reported him and he got a 14 day ban.
along the communication between the player and ccp they stated that you can get a ban evn if you post such stuff in a private conversation. all it needs is thatsomehow ccp gets their noses put on it (someone reports you)

I agree. When I was in Tribe, a very small minority of the players posted gross-out stuff. The leadership told me the only solution was to block the people who did that. So I blocked them, on eve, on comms and on the alliance forums. If I feel I need to bleach my brain after clicking your links, I don’t want to hear your opinions on anything, and i don’t care if you’re an alliance FC either.

I was never upset by the regular porn tho, just the gross-out. I never reported people for it, but I did laugh when one of the main perpetrators was banned for it.

TL;DR If you are an important person in your alliance, then don’t join in the porn posting.
