CSM8 Election Interviews: Sgurd Battersea

Welcome to the thirty-second in a series of thirty minutes interviews with CSM8 election candidates (which can still be booked with me – details can be found here). The thirty-second individual to be interviewed is Sgurd Battersea. Sgurd has yet to define his platform

There wasn’t a lot to discuss with Sgurd as he doesn’t yet have a platform. I spend some time asking him why and whether he takes this process seriously.

About the author

Xander Phoena

The good looking, funny, intelligent member of the team, Xander set up Crossing Zebras with Jeg in April 2012 mainly because he was talking too much about Eve on his other podcast. Playing the game for almost five years, Xander still has absolutely zero clue about how to actually play Eve but somehow still manages to talk a good game.

What a waste of ballot space and podcast time.

    • xanderphoena

Agreed. Unfortunately, I promised that this process would be open to any official candidate who wanted an interview to avoid any accusations of political bias or whatever. He asked for an interview for whatever reason so he got one. But yeah, awful.

      • Just listened to Fon, Travis, and this back-to-back. You have more patience than I.

  • Unforgiven Storm

sorry this is going to be the first one I don’t listen to the end, its a waste of my time… next one please

  • foobar

knowing eve online and how people think, the risk is high that this guy will be voted into CSM. “for the lulz”

    • vort

      yep

  • Harrigan Vonstudly

ERMAGHERD SGURD! Being nice, Sgurd, you’re an idiot

  • Two step

This was your 2nd best interview ever Xander, and certainly the funniest by far!

  • Seriously, how did someone this daft even find the form to fill out to become a candidate? What a waste of time…

  • Snow Axe

This is amazing, Sgurd Battersea is the Darius III of the new generation.

  • I un-ironically love Sgurd Battersea. He’s getting an alt vote of mine.

  • Da Dom

Given sgurd experience and knowledge base, you would have thought this interview would have focused more upon his “new player experience” candidacy platform.

One point that he made that I think might have been missed was when he said that he didn’t think that CSM was effective /because he’d never heard of them before this election/. I think that’s a very valid point. If CSM is supposed to represent the players to CCP, then both CSM and CCP have a responsibility to both make players aware of the existence and purpose of CSM itself.

It’s kind of ridiculous that a person who has been playing the game for 18 months didn’t even know that there were 14 people ostensibly representing his interests to CCP. It calls into question the legitimacy of the CSM itself in my opinion.
