Crossing Zebras Episode 22

We’re back! The best podcast in all of Eve Online is back, large and in charge to bring you all the latest news and gossip from the the game. This week, Jeg and Xander are joined by two very special guests. The first is our favourite dev, CCP Fozzie who joins us for a second time to correct us for a multitude of previously committed heinous errors on the show. Thankfully, he also released a rather important dev blog yesterday that has rather large implications for those of you who care about POSes. The second guest is rather well-known for not only despising Eve Online podcasts but also for having one of the most controversial and well-read blogs in the game. Making his first ever appearance in any Eve podcast, we have none other than Poetic Stanziel.

With such an outstanding array of talent to hand, it would be remiss of us not discuss those upcoming changes to how POSes work, a large chunk of general chit-chat on the CSM8 election (including the final ballot which was announced while we were recording) and a wee bit of conversation following the live stream Dust/Eve link Q&A from yesterday.

Introductions

POS changes for Odyssey – We pull apart Fozzie’s recent dev blog on the upcoming POS changes for Odyssey, what they can mean for the average player and what the feedback on the plans has been from the community over the past 24 hours

(28:55)

CSM8 Elections – We spent a fair bit of time pulling apart the CSM8 elections. By pure coincidence, as we were recording, the final ballot was posted in preparation for the election starting the following day. We discussed who got through to the final ballot and with how many votes. Myself and Poetic argued the relevant merits of tactical voting in an STV scenario. And Fozzie explains to us how STV actually works properly.

(1:29:29)

Dust/Eve Live Stream Q&A – After yesterday’s live Q&A with the the Team True Grit discussing the link between Eve and Dust, we look at the upcoming expansion Uprising as well as the long term implications of the impact to Eve itself.

About the author

Xander Phoena

The good looking, funny, intelligent member of the team, Xander set up Crossing Zebras with Jeg in April 2012 mainly because he was talking too much about Eve on his other podcast. Playing the game for almost five years, Xander still has absolutely zero clue about how to actually play Eve but somehow still manages to talk a good game.

  • I think I might have caused CZ to slip to #2 podcast. It would have been #3, but Fozzie kept the ‘cast afloat.

    • Well at least we know who to blame

I think you’ve missed an important part of Sony’s go to market for Playstation 4. They are integrating their gaikai acquisition which means they have the capability, if they want, to provide DUST514 as a streaming game. This not only allows them to deploy the game on both the PS3 and PS4 using the game code, it also would allow them to offer it via. whatever gaikai client Sony deploy.

    • xanderphoena

Oh wow, I actually knew this too and totally forgot until you mentioned it right there. I’ll make sure and mention this on the next CZ bluntpencil. The Gaikai thing had totally slipped my mind. I still think my hunch on Dust moving out of beta with the PS4 launch (or very soon thereafter) will be proven correct though.

      • bluntpencil

That said I’ve never ceased to be surprised by Sony’s ability to disappoint. Stream DUST via. Gaikai would be an amazing development and allow CCP to push the game to PCs, tablets, smartTVs – but if Sony could do they why wouldn’t they do it for PS2 and their other games?

They still have a foot in the tin pushing business so will want to shift consoles.

Clean Bandit Mozart’s House best part!
